It may sound odd, but my drawings resemble rather comic books than icons or classical easel paintings. I value the simplicity and the beauty of a single line. Somehow it turns out that in my artwork I inadvertently follow the tradition of naive folk art, though sometimes it is hard to achieve.
Typically, I use the technique of cyanotype. It's an old photo process of the nineteenth century, which is also a perfect combination of my big interests, namely — photography and illustration. This technique allows to reflect the real objects on the print or use such effects as blur (defocus) and shade. In several of my paintings, I've combined reflections of my body parts (and even an outline of my shadow) with a simple drawing line. Along with a blue resulted from solar exposure, all this gives the feeling of a work made without hands, which is perfectly suitable for the concept of sacred art.
