The exhibition “Roman Selsky. Crimea (in the framework of the “Grand Masters” project)” represents the artworks of Selsky’s most creative period, in particular, those devoted to Crimea. The solace of the sea – provided an acute sense of beauty which intensified an underlying feeling of loneliness – and yet at the same time, the sea was a source of romantic dreams in the form of ships, indistinguishable holidaymakers, and places of rest. Jason Francisco. The Golden Rose

The Golden Rose (2014) is a visual and textual meditation on time, loss, and memory in connection with the site of the Golden Rose in Lviv, Ukraine, once one of the most famous synagogues of Europe. The work includes large-format photography, drawing, and writing, in a series of toned gelatin silver prints. The work was made in the years prior to the memorial complex that opened on the site in 2016 (с) Jason Francisco.

Graphics (in the frames of the project “Grand Masters”)” there are sketches and graphics composition of Oleksa Nowakiwsky – famous Ukrainian artist (1872-1935). The harmonious and virtuosic feather, pencil and charcoal drawings show the variation of the ideas, which were interested in the artist during the whole his life.

Every name opens for our imaginatione a new one story from our past, and every story revives comes alive in Christian images, which were reproduced by artists on the walls of the houses and churches, on the pages of manuscripts and old books, on the boards and canvas, like as on the photos. When did those pictures start to appear in the home space? It is difficult to say exactly. Because in the houses of the first Christians there were already icons that protected them from evil...
