Oleksandr Bryndikov “Woodcut”

Popular Christian themes - icons of St. Nicholas, St. George, St. Paraskeva, Intercession of the Virgin, the Archangel Michael, etc. were reproduced by folk artists with simple forms, generously decorated. It seems like nothing more than the line and the spot, but, actually, limitations of the means of expression make gravure the perfect image itself.

Saint George is one of the most popular saints in Ukraine, and patron saint of Lviv, whose spiritual strength and care protects us in times of historical upheavals. This time Gallery offers contemporary vision of Victorious Saint by more than twenty artists working in different techniques and styles - in addition to traditional icons on board and on glass, we will have a chance to see images of St. George in paintings, engravings on wooden board, graphics, ceramics, artistic weaving and mixed techniques.

Iconart: Visions of a World Unseen, Contemporary Sacred Art from Ukraine in New York

The Ukrainian Institute of America is pleased to announce a group exhibition of 18 artists from Ukraine, “Iconart: Visions of a World Unseen”. Organized in cooperation with Iconart Gallery of Contemporary Sacred Art, located in Lviv, Ukraine, the exhibition draws from the work of Ukrainian artists associated with the Gallery. Independently working in different media, the artists focus on spiritual and religious concerns within the contemporary cultural context in which they live.

Ostap Lozynskyy is primarily known as an artist and initiator and participant of many significant art events. However collectibles is also one of the bright sides of his personality. The entire collection was assembled by him recently and has about 40 unique Hutsul and Pokuttya images.

Ivanka Krypyakevych-Dymyd “QUIET LIGHT”

Five squares are representing the figures of poets, artists, soldiers, musicians and priests who have passed the Apocalypse of tests by their lives on the Ukrainian soil. Some of them I knew personally: Fr. Ivan Hrenyoh, Ivan Svitlychny, Zenoviy Krasivskyi, Fr. Artemiy Tsehelskyi (my grandfather). Andriy Vynnychok «EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING»

During the Anaphora of the Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom, in response of the priest commemorating saints of the Heavenly Church and living hierarchs of the Earthly Church, community of faithful is concluding his prayer with words: And of All Mankind (in Cyrillic – I Vsich I Vse (of EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING). To some extent, self-criticism of the Church is appeared in this expression, because the Church is conscious that the sacrifice of Christ was made not only for the merits of all the saints, but primarily for the redemption of sins of every person.
