RENEWAL. ICON-PAINTING BY LYUBA YATSKIV

The iconography of Lyuba Yatskiv is always deeply symbolic and sacredly balanced. Every saint’s gesture there, as well as iconographic symbol serve as a text that corresponds to the canonical understanding of the Cristian event. Deepening into what has been seen, the viewer can’t shake the feeling of the perfect symbiosis of form and content, and as a result a modern icon appears in front of us, which, apart from expressive, monumental painting, restrained color, is filled with the emotions of kindness and Grace of God.

GENERATION. THEORY

Grouped on the paper abstract combinations as invented, barely clear image of the representations about the generation - about the ancestors. They lived long time ago. They – the far away family. We don’t remember them. We don’t know them. Because of the limited time of man and uncompromising death, or because of the irony of fate - we have lost contact with them.

Towards the Sun

She believed the artist had a prophetic mission to “wake people out of numbness” and present life as a “new creation.” Her art-making revels in the complexities of nature but points to the New Heaven and Earth to come. In prints like Rejoice & Be Glad and Mystic Dance the boundaries between the physical world and the life of the spirit dissolve, and we catch a glimpse of the Peaceable Kingdom, where children form a ring with tortoise, toad and beetle and defy gravity in a line dance reaching toward the sun.

High complex and mental images are permeated with the aspiration to beauty, despite the understanding of the own ugliness...

Andrzej A. Widelski

Fine art was for Him a meeting with the transcendent - with God. Therefore, he painted God's messengers - Angels. In his paintings, the encounter with the Angels - both mystically colorful and marked by drama, because such is human life. Was convinced that the world of art, which is a conversation with itself, and with another person - a conversation that continues under the onslaught of nothingness and eternity - can be understood only through intuition and emotion ... Roman Selsky. Crimea (within the framework of the “Grand Masters” project)

The exhibition “Roman Selsky. Crimea (in the framework of the “Grand Masters” project)” represents the artworks of Selsky’s most creative period, in particular, those devoted to Crimea. The solace of the sea – provided an acute sense of beauty which intensified an underlying feeling of loneliness – and yet at the same time, the sea was a source of romantic dreams in the form of ships, indistinguishable holidaymakers, and places of rest. He combined a very realistic way of painting with his smooth and even blurry shapes and images ... (c)
